Inspiration for a Lifetime

Solo: The participants prepare and present three dances. All three are based on the language of ballet. Two of them should be variations from the classic repertoire. (See, the following page.)

The third dance may reflect a historic, national or ethnic style. It may also be an expression of drama, comedy or pantomime. It maybe quoted from (a) one of the ballets, (b) having its origin in theatrical dancing, or (c) is an original composition, highlighting the quality of the participant.

*The duration of each dance for Solo:  1—2 minutes

Duo and Trio:
The participants prepare and present three dances. All three are based on the language of ballet. Two of them should be dances from the classic repertoire. (See the following page.)

The repertoire of the grand pas de deux and the pas de trois qualify here, with sections of the entrée and adagio, and the coda.. Also the literal interpretation of pas de deux and the pas de trois: Dances for two or three dancers, female or male, in any combination, from the classic repertoire.

The third dance may reflect a historic, national or ethnic style. It may also be an expression of drama, comedy or pantomime. It maybe quoted from (a) one of the ballets, (b) having its origin in theatrical dancing, or (c) is an original composition, highlighting the qualities of the participants.

*The duration of each dance for Duo and Trio: 1—6 minutes

Ensemble:
The participants prepare and present three dances. All three are based on the language of ballet. Two of them should be dances from the classic repertoire. (See the following page.)

Ensemble 1
:   4 -   6  Dancers
Ensemble 2
:   7 - 11  Dancers
Ensemble 3: 12 - 17  Dancers
Ensemble 4: 18 Plus Dancers

The third dance may reflect a historic, national or ethnic style, or is an expression of drama, comedy or pantomime. It maybe quoted from (a) one of the ballets, (b) having its origin in theatrical dancing, or (c) is an original composition, highlighting the qualities of the participants.

*The duration of each dance, for Ensemble 1: 2 -   8 minutes
*The duration of each dance, for Ensemble 2: 4 - 14 minutes
*The duration of each dance, for Ensemble 3: 6 - 20 minutes
